If it’s November, it must be.. Perth jacaranda season! While the early part of spring is all about admiring the native wildflowers and tulips that provide a welcome floral flourish after winter, the second-last month of the year (where has the time gone?!) is characterised by a distinctly purple haze that descends upon the city.
Jacarandas are native to South America (specifically to Brazil and Argentina) but thrive in any temperate region around the world, hence their widespread appearance in the likes of Australia, South Africa and California. So where are some of the best spots around Perth to admire and photograph these gorgeous lavender-coloured blossoms? Read on..
Mount Street, Perth
Mount Street is picturesque at any time of year, with its steep slope, fantastic city views, luxury apartments and quaint street lamps. But it goes next level in November when its entire length, together with neighbouring Cliff Street, bursts into purple bloom.
I think the blossoms look particularly nice against the backdrop of the blue skies and CBD skyscrapers. And you’re just a stone’s throw away from Kings Park, with all the incredible flora that offers.

Hyde Park, Perth
Like Mount Street, Hyde Park is absolutely stunning no matter what time of year you visit (I also feature it in my Autumn in Perth post), so it’s no surprise that it makes this list too.
To get the best view, head to the section on the corner of Glendower Street and William Street – you’ll find a gorgeous cluster of purple jacarandas there. It’s also a great spot for a spring picnic!

Claisebrook Cove, East Perth
If you find yourself walking or dining among the al-fresco Mediterranean vibes that East Perth’s Claisebrook Cove offers, you won’t be able to miss the pops of purple that line the water and the laneways running immediately off it.
The cove’s south side is particularly picturesque, as is the pedestrian alley on the north side between Flagstaff Lane and Henry Lawson Walk. Take a moment to wander under the purple blossoms here for some fabulously Instagrammable shots!

Francis Street, Northbridge
You may not automatically associate the streets in the heart of Northbridge’s entertainment and nightlife precinct with blossoms and nature, but I was surprised to find that Francis Street – particularly the stretch between Parker Street and Lake Street – comes alive with purple at this time of year. Incorporate it on a walk around nearby Russell Square.

Brigid Road, Subiaco
Being the leafy suburb that it is, Subiaco has quite a few jacarandas dotted all over the place. But where I was most struck by them was Brigid Road, right near Roberts Road and just a stone’s throw from Rokeby Road.
Combine it with a walk around Market Square (you might even want to check out the Subiaco Night Markets while you’re there) or a coffee at one of the cafés at Station Square and soak up the springtime vibes! There are also noticeable pops of purple along Hamersley Road and Heytesbury Road.

Francisco Street, Rivervale
In central-eastern Perth, a great place to spot a jacaranda enclave is Francisco Street in Rivervale, specifically the area near the intersection with Surrey Road. It’s surrounded on all sides by these beautiful purple trees, which can be enjoyed as part of a stroll around adjacent Wilson Park. And just a stone’s throw away, you’ll also find lines of jacarandas along Kooyong Road and Campbell Street.

Clydesdale Street, Como
There’s plenty of purple to be had south of the river too. I recommend visiting the southern end of Clydesdale Street, just off Manning Road. The tranquil residential street is lined with jacarandas, and many of the footpaths and driveways are strewn with pretty purple petals.

Ardross Street, Applecross
Just a short drive away, Applecross prides itself on being a jacaranda heartland – to the point that it actually holds an annual Jacaranda Festival! The festival, which features some 150 stalls and lots of family-friendly entertainment, is held on Ardross Street near Applecross Village, and in 2025 will take place on Sunday 23 November.
It’s no coincidence that Ardross Street is the chosen venue, because it really does transform into a haven of lilac-coloured trees at this time of year.
