Work with me

Hello!

I’m Emily and I launched this blog in December 2022. Whether you’ve only just stumbled upon it or have been following for a while, I appreciate that you’ve clicked this particular page and are considering working with me. To learn more about me and my personal background, you might also like to visit my About page.

Who I am

I’m a Perth-based travel & lifestyle content creator in my early 40s who is passionate about inspiring both local and global wanderlust in others through informative writing and engaging visuals.

With nearly 20 years’ experience as a translator specialising in travel & tourism texts (many of which have been published in travel guides, websites and coffee-table books), I pride myself on both my linguistic skills and keen interest in all things foreign cultures and distant lands (but also local gems in and around my hometown).

Having grown up in a ‘travel industry’ family, I was exposed to travel right from the age of 1 through my parents, and, over the years, have had great exposure to the hotel, airline and tourism markets on 6 continents.

I have a particular interest in city travel, delving deeper into a destination’s art & cultural scenes and admiring its architecture, as well as reviewing the 4 and 5-star properties I stay at along the way.

At a Perth level, my focus is primarily on discovering cafés and restaurants, and showcasing the local art scene and other notable attractions in and around the city.

In general, my aim is to present the best a destination or property has to offer and provide my own recommendations – so my audiences can then feel reliably inspired and empowered to plan and book their own experiences.

‘The purpose of life, after all, is to live it, to taste experience to the utmost, to reach out eagerly and without fear for a newer and richer experience.’

— Eleanor Roosevelt

My audience

My engaged audience across the blog and Instagram (my primary social-media channel) is predominantly female (~65%), aged between 25 and 44, from the Australia, the USA and the UK (my top 3 audience countries), though I have followers and readers from every continent.

They’re generally people who are keen to explore the world and/or Perth, are often at a stage in their life where they are able to spend a bit more on travel, are seeking inspiration on places to visit/stay at, and have a particular appreciation for culture, sophisticated living and urban escapes.

How we can collaborate

I am very open to collaboration opportunities such as:

  • UGC content for your brand/business
  • Sponsored Instagram content (posts/carousels, stories, reels)
  • Sponsored TikTok videos
  • Sponsored blog posts (e.g. destination/brand promotions, airline/hotel/restaurant reviews, tour recommendations)
  • Freelance writing (e.g. feature articles, slide-show pieces, listicles/round-ups, personal essays)
  • Copywriting (e.g. for your company blog or social-media captions)
  • Press trips
  • Sponsored stays/experiences

Some potential content pillars include:

  • Luxury hotels or unique properties
  • Fascinating art & cultural destinations/experiences
  • Unmissable attractions in a destination
  • Epic city breaks
  • Things to see & do around Perth and Western Australia
  • Cafés & dining experiences in Perth and around the world
  • Wellness-oriented travel
  • Travel accessories/products

Why work with me

As a nano-influencer with a highly engaged audience, I’m all about authenticity.

A lot of emphasis is placed on numbers these days, yet it is actually often accounts with smaller followings that have more engaged, loyal audiences. That’s because we’re relatable, honest and genuine. There is nothing contrived about anything I share.

My work has already been featured multiple times on the Instagram feed of AFAR magazine (295,000 followers, see the most recent feature here), used repeatedly in the promotional materials of hotels such as the Hyatt Regency Cairo West (see also this photo feature and this reel feature) and the Art Series Hotels chain (for The Adnate hotel in Perth), included in the Wanderlust magazine and its associated Instagram account, and used as UGC content by the Expedia Group.

For an example of the type of videos I can create for luxury properties (e.g. as UGC content), see this Instagram reel I made of a 5-star resort in Cambodia.

And for examples of still images from the same property, see this Instagram carousel.

I have also had Instagram reels used for promotion and advertising by major travel & tourism accounts on Instagram, such as Tourism Western Australia (655,000 followers), Destination Perth (114,000 followers), So Perth (141,000 followers), Experience Perth Hills (21,400 followers) and Welcome To Perth (99,200 followers), which not only reflects the appeal, but also massively expands the reach, of my content.

Collaborative reels with Welcome to Perth (such as this one) have yielded tens of thousands of views and thousands of likes and shares. All my featured social media content can be found here.

While I love being creative and showcasing destinations and properties in their best light, I also pride myself on my ability to remain authentic and trustworthy in doing so, because there is nothing worse than feeding prospective travellers or customers false content.

You can be sure that anything promoted on my blog or social-media channels is done so because it aligns with me personally, and will be consumed by audiences who have full trust in what I post. (You can also read articles by the likes of Entrepreneur and Forbes magazines on the benefits of collaborating with nano-influencers).

I write all captions and blog posts entirely myself – strictly no AI usage.

Having worked full time as a freelance translator since 2006, I have nearly 20 years’ experience in being a solo digital entrepreneur. I know what it takes to:

  • Successfully run a business remotely
  • Negotiate contracts
  • Liaise interculturally with clients across multiple languages and time zones
  • Supply deliverables in top quality, on time – every time
  • Offer a high degree of professionalism in general

If you feel my unique mix of a lifetime background in travel, my great interest in artistry and creativity, my passion for showcasing local & global destinations and businesses, my loyal follower base, and my strong emphasis on aesthetic authenticity, coupled with my long-time business experience in a field requiring very strong literary and intercultural skills, make a good fit for your brand or business, please feel free to get in touch via my contact form or by emailing hello@homeintheworld.net.

I can communicate in English, French, German and Spanish, so you are welcome to write to me in any of those languages, depending on what is easiest for you. I would absolutely love to hear from you and discuss how we can work together to create something aspirational and inspiring.
