9 cute Perth garden cafés and green spaces to try!

Last Updated on October 18, 2026 by Home in the World

What better way to enjoy the transition into spring and summer than to enjoy a cuppa in the fresh air, surrounded by lush plants and nature vibes. There’s just something about the whole experience that feels soothing to the soul, don’t you think?

I’ve been heading around town lately to explore some of the best Perth garden cafés and green spaces, and these are some of my favourites right now. From eclectic art sanctuaries to Asian-inspired courtyards and veritable indoor jungles to wholesome rural nature settings, there really is something to suit all tastes.

I’ll continue to update and add to this (alphabetically ordered) list as I go, so do keep checking back! In the meantime, see if any of the lush havens below take your fancy…

Bar Botanik, West Perth

I’m kicking things off with one of the lushest spots of them all: a veritable indoor jungle in the form of Bar Botanik. Don’t let the relatively unobtrusive exterior fool you; as soon as you step inside you’ll be struck by the amazing array of greenery all around you. Plants in pots, plants hanging from the ceiling, plants on tables. Basically a haven of botanicals, which is precisely what Bar Botanik is all about. A local family business, it specialises in selling rare indoor plants, as well as stylish homewares, gifts and plant-care products. When I visited they also had a section focused on bridal flowers.

And to add to the green theme, they also serve up a mean matcha. Indeed, they even host blind matcha tastings and matcha-grinding workshops by Matcha Tomo, which look fantastic! But if matcha is not your thing, there’s plenty of other coffee, tea and snack options available, turning this place into a veritable triple threat: plant haven, homewares store and cute café. Can’t get a much better combo than that!

What I loved about it: The fact that it’s a zen-like community space run hands-on by family members. It felt so refreshing to sip on a delicious oat-milk matcha latte surrounded by so many lovingly-cared-for plants.

  • Bar Botanik, 289 Fitzgerald St, West Perth
  • Open: Tue-Sat 10am-4pm

Be Free Café, East Perth

Next on the list of Perth garden cafés is the wholesome Be Free Café. This semi-outdoor eatery is located among the gorgeous grounds of Perth City Farm in East Perth, surrounded by greenery and art. Its seasonal menu is relatively small, but crafted to a high quality, using organic produce. You can truly taste the difference.

On my numerous outings there I have tried the avocado on toast, açaí bowl, various smoothies and matcha. But they also have a strong focaccia offering, as well as go-to brunch classics like eggs on toast, Bircher muesli and smoked-salmon crumpets.

While you’re there, don’t forget to check out Perth City Farm itself. There are some stunning mosaic murals, a large market garden, a permaculture enclosure with chickens, a living soil centre and recycling hub.

Plus, if you visit on a Saturday morning, you’ll be able to browse the weekly farmer’s market, which takes place all around Be Free Café. Just a lovely day out in general!

What I loved about it: The delicious organic menu and the fact that it is located at Perth City Farm, meaning you can combine it with a wholesome farm experience or weekly market.

  • Be Free Café, 1 City Farm Place, East Perth
  • Open: Mon-Fri 7am-2pm, Sat 7.30am-12.30pm

Chinta Café, North Perth

If you’ve been following this blog for a while, you may remember I actually already reviewed Chinta a few years ago. The good news is that it is still running and still just as popular. And why wouldn’t it be!

This ‘tropical garage’, whose name means ‘love’ in Indonesian, is a plant-filled Balinese-style oasis, complete with Buddha statues, parasols and art. Serving predominantly Southeast Asian fare (think spring rolls, bao buns, chicken satay, nasi goreng and beef rendang), but also general classics such as French toast, avocado toast, burgers and omelettes, Chinta is a little zen sanctuary with both indoor and outdoor seating. And you can keep the tropical vibe going with one of their colourful juices or aesthetic signature drinks!

You wouldn’t think that a venue located inside a former auto-repairs workshop would make it onto a list of Perth garden cafés, yet Chinta manages to fuse the industrial vibe with semi-indoor plant haven perfectly, with the added vibrancy of Southeast Asian influences.

If you want to take the plant experience to the next level, consider booking one of their morning teas under the palm trees, complete with fresh flowers, vintage china and three-tiered sweet and savoury stands. I have not tried this myself but it sounds amazing!

What I loved about it: The indoor-jungle feel, the calming Buddha statues and art and the delicious food (which includes vegan options).

  • Chinta Café, 29 Scarborough Beach Rd, North Perth
  • Open: Mon-Fri 7am-3pm, Sat-Sun 7am-4pm

DaRawNature Coffee Lounge, Fremantle

If you know me, you know I love art, plants and coffee shops, and DaRawNature Coffee Lounge is literally all 3 in one. Bingo!

It’s a hidden oasis that initially appears more like a hole-in-the-wall café. It is anything but. To access it, you need to walk through a ‘tunnel’ lined with quirky art, which opens out into a leafy atrium-like courtyard. Follow the ramp up and voilà, you’ll find yourself in the sanctuary that is the coffee lounge at the DaRawNature Studio Gallery.

The balcony section outside, meanwhile, is SO tranquil and I loved the sensation of feeling like I was in a treetop, with the sunlight filtering down. It’s a veritable secret garden, because you’d never imagine, from the building’s exterior, that there would be such a unique garden concept behind it.

There is also a light-filled indoor area that doubles as a mini art gallery. The floor-to-ceiling windows create a greenhouse like vibe, which I really loved.

I can definitely recommend the iced strawberry matcha – it was the perfect refreshment on what was quite a warm day. Art, café & nature is such a great concept, don’t you think?

What I loved about it: The fact that it felt like being in a secret sanctuary that symbiotically fuses art, nature and coffee-shop vibes, making fabulous use of natural light.

Ginga, Mount Hawthorn

When it comes to Perth garden cafés, it doesn’t get more on-brand than this. Ginga is an oasis of greenery on Scarborough Beach Road in Mount Hawthorn. With sweeping corner-block premises that feature koi ponds, tree canopies and a variety of indoor and outdoor seating options (but mostly outdoor), you will feel like you’ve been transported to a restful Asian garden.

It’s the perfect place for brunch, but is also open for dinner. And I can only imagine how magical it looks at night with the fairy lights twinkling in the branches overhead. I will definitely be returning to experience it. Likewise with the food. I have so far only been for a matcha, but I intend to head back very soon to sample their Asian-fusion cuisine, and will be updating this post once I have done that.

But based on my initial experience of enjoying their gorgeous setting and equally aesthetic signature drinks (see photos above for the cute strawberry matcha and Vietnamese salted coffee we ordered!), I rate it as a fabulous Perth garden café that will be particularly appealing as we move into the warmer months.

What I loved about it: The zen-like setting, the ample seating options both indoors and outdoors, and the super cute signature drinks!

  • Ginga, 193 Scarborough Beach Rd, Mt Hawthorn
  • Open: Daily 7am-2.30pm, also dinners Tue-Sun 5pm-late

Greenbunch, East Victoria Park

A café x florist x plant shop x gift shop. A heavenly combo! And that’s exactly what Greenbunch offers. You’ll likely first spot this gem on Albany Highway in East Victoria Park from its cute streetside benches, and then you’ll step into a magical, fresh-fragranced world of floor-to-ceiling plants, pots, bouquets and other gorgeous gifts.

Keep walking through, however, and you’re in for another surprise – because there’s a STUNNING little courtyard at the back, complete with whimsical parasols, a tiny art gallery and of course a wide array of plants. It’s like a fairy garden! And it’s the perfect place to enjoy a coffee, sandwich or cake (including vegan options) from their café.

Definitely a cute spot to check out in Perth if you haven’t yet done so! Especially during the spring months.

What I loved about it: The fact that you can browse gorgeous floral displays and whimsical homewares and then enjoy delicious cakes in a fairytale-like garden at the rear.

  • Greenbunch, 907 Albany Hwy, East Victoria Park
  • Open: Mon-Fri 6.30am-3pm (shop until 5pm), Sat-Sun: 7am-3pm (shop until 5pm)

Naked Apple Cider House, Karragullen

If you like your Perth garden cafés in a rural setting, then Naked Apple Cider House in Karragullen might just be the place for you! Situated in the Perth hills, about a 45-minute drive from the city, you really feel like you’re in a different world here, where everything slows down a notch, you can exhale a little and take in the nature all around you.

Having such a picturesque, rustic location means Naked Apple Cider House is pretty as a postcard in every season. I visited in the spring, when the wisteria was starting to bloom and various other blossoms were emerging from their winter slumber.

As you can tell by its name, this place makes its own cider (8 different types, to be exact!). But even if you’re not a cider drinker, I highly recommend enjoying a coffee or snack at their restaurant and spending some time wandering the lush grounds.

And you can be totally flexible about where you sit too. There’s an indoor restaurant, an outdoor undercover verandah/courtyard, a deck and several other more secluded tables dotted around the gardens. So there’s really something to suit all vibes. And it’s pet-friendly too.

Overall, a really nice change from the city pace, and a great way to inject a bit of wholesome, country-style goodness into your day!

What I loved about it: The general serenity, and the variety of seating options scattered around the garden, set amongst beautiful native plants and quirky sculptures.

  • Naked Apple Cider House, 1088 Brookton Hwy, Karragullen
  • Open: Wed-Thu 11.30am-3.30pm, Fri 11.30am-10pm, Sat 11am-10pm, Sun 11am-7pm

Peninsula Farm Café, Maylands

In terms of Perth garden cafés, this one is a case of riverside chill meets wholesome rural vibes.

Tucked away behind the old Peninsula Farm in a secluded enclave along the Swan River in Maylands, Peninsula Farm Cafe is a literal hidden gem – though figuratively maybe not so much, as it’s actually become hugely popular since it first opened in early 2023.

And I am definitely not surprised. From the moment you arrive, you are greeted by friendly staff, before settling in to one of their many seating options – whether you prefer indoors, outdoors, on the verandah or even a takeaway on the lawn. There’s also a play area for children.

The menu consists of organic, seasonal, sustainable produce and is all about being mindfully good. We got a farm-style ham & cheese toastie and the smashed avocado with crushed peas, roasted chickpeas and dukkah. Wow!! Soooo good.

If you enjoy being surrounded by lush greenery and soothing river views, Peninsula Farm Cafe has to be right up there as an ultimate breakfast, brunch or lunch spot. And if you visit on a Friday or Saturday, you may also want to consider taking a tour of the old Peninsula Farm after which the café was named.

What I loved about it: Apart from the tranquil setting and delicious food, I really love the friendly attitude of the staff here. Oh, and the music is fantastic too; chilled house and lounge sounds that perfectly match the vibes. Turns out you can even follow their playlist by bernie.taylor1201 on Spotify!

Source Foods, Perth

So this candidate on the list of Perth garden cafés is for those who love plant cafés. You know the ones, where cosy coffee-shop vibes meet lush indoor sanctuary. As soon as you step in, you’ll see potted plants, a pothos-lined arched ceiling, wall-mounted plants, plants on window sills… it’s gorgeous!

On the south wall, you’ll find a cute little shelf of pot plants by Ivy & Me Botanics. So don’t think it’s just food and drink that you can buy here! But the food and drink are excellent too. All your favourite brunch classics are there, from granola and French toast to smashed avocado on sourdough, eggs benedict and corn fritters, along with a solid selection of coffees, teas, specialty matchas, juices and smoothies.

And if the weather is nice, you can also enjoy their small al fresco area, which has a few pot plants of its own and overlooks the green space that is Birdwood Square. Source Foods has been a staple on Beaufort Street for 12 years, and indeed I first went there many years ago myself. It always delivers, and I definitely recommend it for anyone wanting a wholesome brunch experience with a side of plants.

What I loved about it: The beautiful plant-inspired decor and good-quality food and drinks.

  • Source Foods, 4/289 Beaufort St, Perth
  • Open: Mon-Sat 7am-2pm, Sun 7.30am-2pm
